Intermediate
Computer Operator Technology Program is a 600 Clock hour program designed
to develop student competence in word processing, spreadsheet, and
data entry operations necessary for intermediate entry-level employment
in today's automated office environment. Students will develop skills
necessary for employment within the field of Data processing, Word
processing (including preparation for employment within clerical and
industrial centers). Students learn to operate machines that type,
print, sort, compute, send, or receive information. Students are critiqued
through course examinations (60%), computer generated work experience
practice sessions (30%), and attendance (10%).
Student’s
whom successfully complete this program in the projected 32-week period
will be able to monitor and control electronic computers to process
business, scientific, engineering, and other data according to operating
instructions. Students will also learn to set control switches on
computer and peripheral equipment, such as external memory, data communicating,
input, synchronizing, and output/printing devices to integrate and
operate equipment according to program, routines and subroutines,
and data requirements specified in operating instructions. Graduates
will quickly recognize that jobs are found in businesses, factories,
government agencies, and wherever else large amounts of data are handled.
